Foreword 00:34
2.
There’s a monster at my front door His mouth is full of crooked teeth I don’t know if I can get him to leave He said, “Son you must consider the slim chances of your escape.” “Are you going to invite me in for dinner?” I said, “In my defense, it won’t be long until you’re dead and gone.” He laughed at my warning, while showing off his crooked teeth Then he grabbed me by the arm and said, “Listen closely!” “I can imagine what you’re thinking – that one day we will fade away, but there will always be more sheep to devour.” Monsters will always let gods live Dead gods mean monsters don’t exist
3.
I made my bones from steel and clay, in order to keep the wolves at bay I’ve got nothing to show, but love for myself I’ll be damned if I do and I’ll be damned if I don’t But that won’t stop me from building a moat The blood in my hands is not my own I scaled the wall that shut you out I built an ark and watched you drown As the world came crashing down All the stars in the sky will break apart like you and I There will be no long goodbye I’ll watch the rain clear them away I’ll watch them sink into the sea I’ll try to save their memories, even if I’m the “enemy” The blood in my hands is not my own It’s the blood of everyone I’ve known For years you waited to hear me call, but I never made a sound One by one they’ll slip away and I’ll be all alone and tired One day I will turn and realise the dust that settled on the ground, settled on me
4.
Feet don’t fail me now I’m apprehensive to take a step Cinder blocks for shoes I’m at the deep end, where it’s dangerous I’m as good as dead An empty vessel deserted by my crew who jumped at the chance to have nothing left to lose I don’t know what to say I’ve spent years existing What have I become? Low brow and highly strung A wolf in sheep’s clothing if ever there was one Shut the door my dear You’re breathing in your last mistake Shut the door That’s all that I can take This time it’s make or break No chance to hesitate Get up
5.
Heavy Heart 03:25
I will follow you into the dark Where both of us don’t belong I’ll hold your beating heart for you While you struggle to hold on I will never abandon you Even when the lights go out Look to the light Look to the light again Burn Burn bright The heart is the biggest in the smallest of hours Where silence reigns and courage is rewarded The night is always darkest before the dawn
6.
Do you remember when we were young? You said you’d never had this much to lose Is that still true? Do you believe in this? Because I know we were meant to tear this world apart Don’t give them away; I want these promises Don’t give them away; I want your promises What does silence sound like to you? For me it’s loneliness, fear and calm Is there anybody left for us to choose? Because I know we were never meant to be apart I’d put you out if you were on fire Douse the flames of the funeral pyre
7.
Wolves 04:20
You think the sun will never set on you You’re unashamed and unafraid of the world You won’t ever know what it feels like to stand up on your own Just wait a while The wolves will devour you and leave you with nothing The world will never revolve around you Manipulation will never end in love Eventually they’ll say, “To hell with you.”
