Gods and Monsters

from Novella by Arms of the Ocean

/

lyrics

There’s a monster at my front door
His mouth is full of crooked teeth
I don’t know if I can get him to leave

He said, “Son you must consider the slim chances of your escape.”

“Are you going to invite me in for dinner?”

I said, “In my defense, it won’t be long until you’re dead and gone.”

He laughed at my warning, while showing off his crooked teeth
Then he grabbed me by the arm and said, “Listen closely!”

“I can imagine what you’re thinking – that one day we will fade away, but there will always be more sheep to devour.”

Monsters will always let gods live
Dead gods mean monsters don’t exist
